The blog is alive again!

Yep its officially has been long enough to make another post!

Lots has been going on from racing and traveling to building new trails and dirt jumps. In the racing and training dept, it has been awesome. Colorado is still one of my favorites! I will post more pics and words soon on that great trip!

Meanwhile here are some shots from section of trial that I added to the climb at the Cahuilla Creek Motocross trails. Some were mumbling that there was not enough climbing at the last race that we held out there so I took the initiative to adding more trail. And who doesn't want more to ride?Daisy dog inspecting the newest addition to the climb!
A little relief from the climbing, a short descentTunneled section just for you!A view from the bridge
Yep I even got the trails watered before I was done for the day! The water is helping out so much! It washes off all of the loose stuff and makes everything great!

Baking the Sea Otter

Just a quick post on the race that is known as Sea Otter. Well needless to say It did not go well for me or lots others. The weather once again played a huge factor this year. The weird thing was that it was hot, for the first time ever! AS we stood on the start line Chuck Jenkins told me that it was 95 degrees.

Cutting to the chase I am bummed to say that the heat totally kicked my butt! I pulled out after just one lap due to the fact that my body was freaking out and I was not even sweating!

Oh well time to focus on the next race!

Its finally time to go to the race that is usually raining or howling winds. However this year it looks like it just may be the first year that it may be nice...or at least better!

We are looking forward to it and doing well and to all that follow this blog are are heading up there to participate...Good Luck!

As I type this we are getting the Pre-Registration up and running for my race series so be sure to stay up on all of the hot news about that!

Hitting the Gym

Well ok I have not been hitting it bit it has been good. With the watchful eye of Bill Dixon my title sponsor looking over my every move in the gym its been great. Exhausting but great! Today was another great workout and is really improving my strength! Right after the Gym I head to ITT to test my legs on the 12 mile climb and had a phenomenal time! I was stoked even though it was freezing cold and raining on me up there. I had to stop 3 times just to get the feeling back in my hands. I could not even tell if I was touching the brakes until I would almost go over the front!

Well back to the Gym and the training, it has been great and I know that it has helped my recovery from my cracked rib a lot. I felt stronger than I ever have at Fontana PRO XCTour last weekend. I managed to make a descent finish of being called up almost last! So where to go from here? Well the Gym of course, even though most would argue with that opinion. Riding in the dirt requires a lot more strength than our friends of the skinny tire sorts. With the races that are planned for this year I know that I can use all of the strength I can get. Notice I said strength not bulk.

See you on the trails and hopefully proving that this weight traing works!

We are working on finalizing a venue that may be different than Vail Lake but I will let you know as soon as we get confirmation!

Finally a race update

The Pain face, how many more laps?

What a weekend! I witnessed so many great races from all of our friends and supporters of our race series, Racers and Chasers. Here are some pics from the race this past weekend that mostly my dad took.Just a bit sandy
It really is as steep as it looks!
There was tons of wins that I heard about from a bunch of people that we have met and great races from people who have just upgraded!About half of the 120 or so starters. Talk about a bottleneck. I got called up 105th

Thanks to the TONS of support from all that continued to cheer for me the whole race! Dave, Kurt, and Cheryl were at the base of "The Wall" on every lap and are here along the "Boards" as I finished! Thanks a ton! I ended up in 50th while having to pass 55 riders.

Let's get going again!

Well to say the least I am not really enjoying still being on the injured list! This is not the most painful injury that I have had but still its annoying to not be able to ride the bike.

Good news is that my race bike is almost done being painted and I can't wait to see it! That also means that I can build up my training bike finally and be able to get them both rolling!

Lastly if you have been to the either the last Fontana or the US Cup you probably got this flyer on your vehicle. It is something that my Dad is working on but it is the real deal! I have been using it for a while now and it has greatly improved my bike handling skills. It makes me feel so much more solid and takes away some of the guess work of what lines to pick! It truly is a great thing and you should totally give it a try!!

Lastly I am really stoked to say that the last US Cup race was tremendous! It was so great to see almost 700 racers out there! I am glad to see what seems to be a surge in mountain biking again. Great work to all that were involved and awesome job to all that raced!

Video and update

So not much going on here as of late! I took a really hard spill out at vail the other day and the doctor think I fractured some ribs. Oh well the day must go on!

And we made sure that we had another great time at the race this past weekend. The conditions were perfect Saturday with the rain the night before! It was sunny and warm all day on Saturday making it great!

Thanks to all that came out and supported us!

wet weekend of racing and training

So it was a fun weekend of riding in the best conditions that have been seen here in quite a while. It started off with rain all night Friday and then a race on Saturday. It was great conditions that made for an awesome race! The race went well with the rain holding off the whole duration of the race. It was a small pro field with only three of us there. On the second lap I finally got a bit of a gap and decided to make a run of it. I was able to win be 2 minutes by the end and give a great shake down to the new race machine! It was truly great and worked amazing! The wheels and bike just made it seem so effortless.

Sunday I decided to go ride at Vail after having lunch with my Grandpa for his birthday. I was able to get 2.5 hrs in with only minimal rain during the ride. There was only one puddle that really got in the way. I was just laughing the whole time in amazement of how great the conditions were considering all of the rain that we were getting.

All in all it was tons of fun and I wish that all had a great weeekend to! Now its time to get ready for my race this weekend!

Weekend of racing

Both the Header and photo in this post are amazing and compliments of Terry Martin! Thanks! The top one is being used to prove that the ESI GRIPS are the best and comfortable! Notice the lack of gloves.

Racing...Racing...and more racing. Luckily I only did one race this weekend but I there was a TON of people that we racing all kids of events from the 12hr to Downhilling. The conditions were absolutly perfect for all of the races and the rain even held out for us racing XC at fontana. It was not to long after we finished a heavy mist/rain came rolling in.

The race went well for me as it was the end of a 4 week build. I was felling pretty good but there was definitly some fatigue left over from my workouts in the past month. It was not to far into the race when Eric and I seperated ourselves from the pack and were on our own to duke it out. It was defintly a better course than the last time as there was a new single track that totally suited Eric's big 29'r wheels. He rolled right up the new trail where I was definitly struggling with it. Long story short it was a great race with even the course marshalls heckeling us! It was great cause after all we are not at a golf tourny!

It came down to the wire where I snuck past Eric and took the win! It was so close that we actually finished on the same second.

After the race I went home and showered then headed out to Vail to watch some of the 12hr. It was great to hear that so many of my friends were winning! My Buds that made up a 4 person team ended up winning the whole race with 17 laps! I heard that there was quite a few pulling solo efforts that I was not able to see because it was dark!

Congrats to all and thanks for making it a great weekend!

PS I am getting a new race machine and it is going to be AWESOME. Think a full suspension carbon frame with carbon wheels, dual control levers and will weigh under 21lbs. Oh I can't wait...next week! I am riding a demo bike now that is the same frame. Pictures and full parts list after its first ride...

The time is near!

The time is close and the Flyers are done! The riding has been good as of late except for the mystery fall I had today on ITT. Kinda weird one minute I was riding the next I am planting my right shoulder into the dirt and rocks. Oh well it can be ignored with the new PR I set on that climb. Hope to you most of you guys this weekend at either of the races.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

After a tough weekend of training its time to get back at it again, this time with Free-ride jerseys for sale at the race series. We are having Black and Navy Blue jerseys for sale in sizes from small to XXL.
What do you think?

Its been great enjoying all of this perfect weather and some amazing riding but I guess we have another storm rolling in. Looks like I may be able to get 1 more ITT training ride in before it rains.

Back from the weekend of too much fun!!!

The Pre race instructions with the 50+ racer field!

So it was a great time and for all of those that missed out well, we are sorry! From World Champion Eric Carter racing the Super D to the night dirt crit to the multi course XC race it was great. We had our largest turnout ever and it was so much fun I can't even explain. I am going to post some pictures from Pual Chan. He takes them for fun and I tell you what, he takes some killer pics!
